Is this an ok opening chapter?

The first thing that caught my mind is that the first sentence reminded me of Professor Snape from Harry Potter. He said the same thing so that caught my attention. I don't really know where this story is going though, and in the first paragraph.. who's the I? I guess it doesn't have to be obvious. But, it was a good start.
